I brought in a 1960s Longines that had been sitting in a drawer for years. The condition report was thorough — they pointed out things I hadn't noticed and were very clear about what would and wouldn't be worth doing. I ended up commissioning the full overhaul and I am glad I did. The documentation is a genuinely useful thing to have.

I was visiting Bangkok and came in without an appointment. They were busy but took a few minutes to look at my watch and suggested I email them a description before coming back. The refinish and reseal package took about three weeks. The result is tidy without looking overpolished, which is exactly what I wanted.

Starting with a condition report was the right decision. I had no idea whether the watch needed a full service or something much simpler. The report explained the actual situation — minor regulation needed, seals were fine. I did not spend on work the watch did not need, which I appreciated.

My grandfather's Seiko needed a full going-through before I could wear it. Chronovale treated it with more thought than I expected. They sourced a crown that matched the original shape, which took some time, and they kept me informed throughout. It runs well now and the documentation they provided is something I will keep alongside the watch.

Decent work on the refinish package. Communication was good throughout and they were honest that the lug area had some marks that couldn't be fully resolved without more aggressive work I hadn't agreed to. That kind of candour is what you want. Watch looks much better and the seals are confirmed good.

I had been uncertain about what a condition report would actually tell me. The answer is: quite a lot. The written summary was clear and practical and gave me confidence in deciding what to do next. Kasem explained everything well at collection and the follow-up note a few weeks later was a thoughtful touch.

JUNE 2025 — CONDITION REPORT

CASE STUDIES

Three watches, three different situations.

CASE 01 — CONDITION REPORT

The Situation

An owner had inherited a Tissot from a relative and wanted to understand its condition before deciding whether to service it or simply store it. The watch had not been worn in over a decade.

The Work

A full condition report was completed over four days. We identified a hairspring that was running slightly outside range and a crystal with minor internal condensation marks. The crown gasket had perished. We set out two options with approximate costs for each.

The Outcome

The owner chose a light regulation service rather than a full overhaul, saving a significant amount. The watch now runs within +/- 15 sec/day. The report alone was worth having regardless of what came next.

TIMELINE: 2 WEEKS TOTAL

CASE 02 — HERITAGE OVERHAUL

The Situation

A collector brought in a 1957 Omega with its original tropical dial, seeking a full movement service. The watch had sentimental and collector value and any damage to the dial would be irreversible.

The Work

We photographed the watch at intake and at every significant stage. The movement was cleaned and serviced with all replaced parts bagged and labelled. Period-sympathetic mainspring sourcing took additional time. Case work was deliberately minimal to preserve original finishing.

The Outcome

Delivered with a 12-page documented record and all original components. The dial is untouched. Running at +8 sec/day. The owner now has a watch with a verifiable service history that adds to, rather than detracts from, its value.

TIMELINE: 8 WEEKS TOTAL

CASE 03 — REFINISH & RESEAL

The Situation

A daily-worn Seiko with five years of scuffs, a worn crown seal, and surface scratches across the caseback. The movement was running well — the owner simply wanted the watch to look presentable again.

The Work

We agreed a refinishing approach in advance — brush finish preserved on the case sides, polished chamfers re-worked. Gaskets renewed throughout. Water resistance confirmed to rated depth after resealing. A short service note was issued at collection.

The Outcome

The watch looks refreshed without looking new. The caseback sealing issue is resolved. The owner said it felt like receiving a different watch — in the best way.

TIMELINE: 3 WEEKS TOTAL
