The Chronovale atelier workbench

ABOUT CHRONOVALE

A space where watches are given time.

Chronovale was founded on the idea that a watch brought in for attention should leave better understood — by its owner and by us.

OUR STORY

Founded in Bangkok, built around patience.

Chronovale grew from a simple frustration: too many watches returned from service without proper explanation, and too many collector pieces treated as if their history didn't matter. We opened on Silom Road because Bangkok had no shortage of fine watches and no shortage of people who cared about them — but a clear shortage of workshops willing to slow down.

The name Chronovale carries two ideas: time, and a sheltered place — a vault where something of value rests safely. That is the experience we want every owner to have when they leave a watch with us.

We work across condition assessments, surface refinishing, seal renewal, and deep mechanical overhauls for collector pieces. The scope of each job is agreed with the owner before any work begins. Nothing is assumed.

Mission

To approach each watch as an individual object with its own condition and history — and to communicate that clearly to the person who owns it.

Values

  • Transparency about what we find and what we propose
  • Respect for a watch's original character and age
  • Realistic timelines, honestly communicated
  • Owner involvement at every decision point

Location

Our atelier is at 210 Silom Road, Suriyawong, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500. We welcome in-person consultations Monday through Saturday.

HOW WE WORK

Standards we hold ourselves to.

Agreed Scope Only

No work begins without the owner's written confirmation of scope and cost. We contact you if anything discovered during the job changes the picture.

Written Records for All Jobs

Every watch in our care receives a written job record. Collector and heritage pieces receive full documentation that accompanies the watch permanently.

Water Resistance Testing

All watches receiving seal work are tested for water resistance before return. We report the result alongside any relevant notes on the case's condition.

Secure Handling and Storage

All pieces in our care are stored securely and handled with appropriate tools. We carry insurance for watches on our premises.

Post-Service Follow-Up

We follow up with owners after service to confirm the watch is running as expected. Concerns raised within a reasonable period are addressed at no additional charge.

Original Parts Returned

For heritage and collector overhauls, all replaced original parts are returned with the watch in a labelled, documented condition summary.

OUR APPROACH

Watch repair in Bangkok covers a wide range — from quick battery swaps to complex mechanical overhauls on vintage Swiss movements. Chronovale occupies a quieter part of that spectrum, focused on work where the history and condition of the piece actually matter to the decisions being made.

Our condition report is designed for owners who are uncertain. A watch that has sat in a drawer for years, or one bought at market without clear provenance, benefits from a patient inspection before anyone commits to a course of action. The report costs a fixed fee and commits us to nothing beyond writing it clearly.

For everyday pieces that are running well but look tired, the Refinish and Reseal Package offers a defined scope agreed before work starts. We are not interested in doing more than necessary, and we will say so directly if a watch doesn't need the full scope.

Collector and heritage work is a different discipline. It asks for sympathy with the object — sourcing period-sympathetic parts where needed, handling patinated surfaces carefully, and keeping a record that adds to the watch's own story. Chronovale takes on a limited number of heritage overhauls at any one time to maintain the attention each one deserves.

NEXT STEP

Bring your watch in for a conversation.

No obligation at the first meeting. We look at the piece together and explain what we see before anything is decided.
